How to choose the material of candle jars?

2025-04-24

The material selection of candle jars needs to comprehensively consider thermal conductivity, temperature resistance and visual presentation. High borosilicate glass has become the mainstream choice due to its low expansion coefficient. Its light-transmitting properties can show the gradual color of wax liquid. Its resistance to rapid cooling and heating at 850℃ ensures the safety of repeated burning. The wide-mouth bottle design facilitates the diffusion of fragrance molecules.

Metal candle jars are mainly galvanized steel and food-grade aluminum. Anodized aluminum cans improve the adhesion of the paint surface through the microporous structure on the surface. They are suitable for the anti-dumping scene of car candles. The inner wall is mostly coated with high-temperature resistant ceramic coating to prevent metal catalysis from deteriorating the wax.

Ceramic candle jars are widely used in meditation candles due to their good heat storage. Thick-walled stoneware can prolong the burning time. The glaze formula needs to pass the lead and cadmium dissolution test to ensure safety. Recycled pulp molded cans are an environmentally friendly option. They are treated with impregnation flame retardants to achieve the UL94 V-0 fire rating. Their natural texture is suitable for the Nordic minimalist style, but the height of the wax core needs to be controlled to prevent edge carbonization. In special applications, laser-engraved crystal glass jars project light and shadows through the prism effect, while laboratory-grade quartz jars can withstand temperatures of 1500°C and are used to observe specific combustion reactions.

Candle jars made of innovative materials, such as bio-based PLA plastics, are used in low-temperature aromatherapy waxes, and their carbon footprint is 67% lower than that of traditional PET, but it should be noted that they may deform above 65°C. Composite material solutions are gradually emerging, such as a cork insulation ring nested in a stainless steel outer layer, which takes into account both structural strength and hand-held comfort.
